Story of the Haunted Mansion

Dr. Dratuig’s Haunted Mansion

Originally from Germany, he immigrated to Québec in 1836 at the age of 30. He began his practice and quickly became popular in the province.

In 1841 he fell in love with a young nurse by the name of Elise and they married the following year. As a wedding present, Dr. Dratuig had a magnificent Mansion built.

They moved in and Dr. Dratuig continued his practice by helping his wife develop a clinic for neglected, troubled and special needs children. They were very happy with what life offered them

In 1844, Elise became pregnant with the hope that it was the first of a long lineage. However, the fate was different and 9 months later, during childbirth, she and the child died. Dr. Dratuig was inconsolable.

It was during this period that people saw him change from a gentle and caring man into a dark and infamous man. He lived the rest of his life reclusive in his mansion out of sight.

In 1874, 30 years after the death of his wife and child, as he celebrated his 68th birthday, Dr. Dratuig was found dead. But that’s not all. According to reports, it seems that he had turned his mansion into a strange dungeon, several rooms of which were destined for torture and horrific events. His body was not the only one to be found that day! It is still estimated today that approximately 160 to 200 bodies of men and women but especially of children were found. They had been tortured and mutilated, and it seemed that attempts had been made to bring them back to life.

The whole city was shocked for a long time and the Mansion was abandoned and forgotten for almost 170 years. The rumors and gossip made of this mansion a place haunted and frightful. It is even said that some curious people would have even disappeared after having been on the premises.

The manor was rediscovered in 2011, during the work for the Atlantis complex and despite the warnings of the local people, the Gagnon-Turcotte family bought the mansion in order to make it a small resting place for tourists. They undertook the renovations. But during the work, 2 men mysteriously lost their lives and 1 was never found again. Needless to say, all the works were interrupted and only the exterior had been renovated. The interior remains as it was in the days of the infamous Dr. Dratuig

Rumor has it that the victims’ tortured spirits roam and haunt the corridors of what was once a magnificent mansion.

But this is not all, another rumor claims that the spirit of the bad doctor still wanders there, always looking for future victims.

If you are brave enough to enter, pay attention to the tortured spirits, but BEWARE to the master of the mansion Dr. Dratuig…

If you meet him, SAVE YOURSELF!!! … GET OUT!!! …

OR ELSE YOUR SPIRIT MAY ALSO BE TAKEN, AND BECOME A PRISONER OF THIS MANSION FOREVER…
